Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 June 2026 · Effective: 20 June 2026
SaveJet is private by design. We never log in to Instagram on your behalf, and we do not store the links you paste or the media you download. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what data is and isn't involved when you use SaveJet (savejet.app), and the rights you have.
1. Who we are
SaveJet ("SaveJet", "we", "us", "our") operates the website at savejet.app, a free, browser-based tool for downloading publicly available Instagram content. For the purposes of the EU/UK GDPR, SaveJet is the "data controller" for the limited processing described here. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
2. Information we do not collect
SaveJet never asks for, and never receives, your Instagram username, password, or any account credentials. We do not require a SaveJet account. We do not save the Instagram links you submit, the files you download, or any copy of the media after your request is served. Because we never sign in to Instagram, nothing you do is tied to an Instagram identity.
3. Information processed automatically
Like every website, our servers process a small amount of technical information to deliver the service and prevent abuse:
- Request data. Your IP address and browser user-agent are processed in real time to apply fair-use rate limits and protect the service from automated abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not sold.
- Server logs. Standard, short-lived logs (such as timestamps and error records) may be generated to keep the service secure and working. They are retained only briefly (see Retention).
- Local storage. Your theme (light/dark) and language preference are saved in your browser's local storage, on your own device. This never leaves your device and is never sent to us.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
SaveJet itself does not use tracking or analytics cookies for its core download function. However, because the site is supported by advertising, our third-party advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technologies (such as web beacons and device identifiers) when ads are shown. Cookies are small files stored on your device. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and opt out of personalised advertising using the links in the next section.
5. Advertising and third-party partners
SaveJet displays advertising to keep the service free. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve and measure ads:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to SaveJet and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third party's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
These partners operate under their own privacy policies; we encourage you to review them.
6. How we use information
We use the limited technical data described above only to: operate and deliver your download request; secure the service and enforce fair-use rate limits; diagnose and fix problems; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for profiling.
7. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases: legitimate interests (to run, secure, and improve the service and prevent abuse); consent (for advertising cookies, where required, managed through your browser or the opt-out links above); and legal obligation (where the law requires us to retain or disclose information).
8. Data retention
We keep data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was processed. Download requests are handled in real time and the links and media are not stored. Short-lived server and security logs are retained only for as long as needed to keep the service secure and are then deleted or anonymised. Preferences saved in your browser's local storage remain on your device until you clear them.
9. Your GDPR rights (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; request erasure; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. Because we store so little, in many cases we will simply have no personal data tied to you to act upon.
10. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. SaveJet does not sell your personal information. Some advertising cookie activity may be considered "sharing" under California law; you can opt out using the advertising links in Section 5 or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser. To make a request, email [email protected].
11. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no industry-standard response to DNT, so SaveJet does not respond to DNT signals. Where required by law, we honour recognised opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) for advertising "sharing".
12. Children's privacy
SaveJet is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
13. International data transfers
SaveJet is available worldwide, and the limited technical processing described here may occur on servers located in different countries. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the service, including encryption in transit (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but because we store so little personal data, the exposure is minimal by design.
15. Third-party links and content
SaveJet retrieves publicly available content from Instagram and may link to external sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of Instagram, Meta, our advertising partners, or any other third-party site.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of SaveJet after an update means you accept the revised policy.
